Definition: modal verbs Ersatzformen
Modalverben drücken die Handlungsabsicht einer Person aus (Fähigkeit, Wunsch, Erlaubnis). Man unterscheidet: können, sollen, dürfen, müssen.
Da im Englischen mit Modalverben nicht alle Zeiten gebildet werden können, verwendet man Ersatzformen.
Modalverb “können”
Modalverb: können
Englisch: can
Ersatzform: to be able to
Beispiel: I can work./Present Simple

2. P.EZ. You are able to work.
3. P.EZ. He/she/it is able to work.
1. P.MZ. We are able to work.

Modalverb “müssen”

Beispiel: I must work/Present Simple:

Beispiel: I need not work/Present Simple:

3. P.EZ. He/she/it doesn’t have to work.
